Accounting Supervisor, Bookkeeper & QA

This role is ideal for someone who is equally comfortable:

Management & Oversight
  • Serve as a go-to resource and mentor for bookkeepers who need help troubleshooting, understanding complex accounting principles, or improving workflow efficiency
  • Analyze team workload and capacity, collaborating with leadership team on bookkeeper assignments and utilization
  • Monitor bookkeeping team KPIs and coach bookkeepers on continual improvement of task progress and performance
  • Partner with CEO and leadership team on account transitions and coverage, hiring and onboarding/training new bookkeepers, and internal system improvements
  • Contribute to a culture of growth, accountability, and continuous learning
  • Perform detailed QA reviews of monthly financial reports across a rotating portfolio of client
  • Identify inconsistencies, errors, or process gaps, and document actionable feedback in relevant platforms as we continually refine the QA review process
  • Use QA findings as coaching opportunities—guiding and educating the responsible bookkeeper on how and why to correct the issue, supporting their professional development
  • Collaborate with the leadership team on training needs and leading mentoring sessions based on recurring issues or patterns identified through QA

Accounting & Bookkeeping
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of accrual-based accounting, GAAP principles, and help others (internal and external) develop financial acumen by educating about these topics in lay terms
  • Triage issues, design processes, oversee month-end close with a focus on accuracy and best practices, and provide technical accounting insight on edge-case scenarios
  • Independently manage and troubleshoot assigned accounts, which may include a small portfolio of complex, high-touch clients (with a focus on process design and review — not just data entry)
  • Perform and oversee advanced bookkeeping: journal entries, job costing, payroll reconciliation, month-end close, deferred revenue, sales tax, profit and loss statements, balance sheet reviews, cleanup work, and ongoing client support
  • Interpret financial data to identify inconsistencies, clean-up needs, and optimization opportunities
  • Initiate, cultivate, and manage direct customer/client relationships as needed
  • Support new client onboarding, cleanups, system setups, and ongoing service delivery as needed
  • Document, maintain, and build upon standard operating procedures (SOPs) for core bookkeeping functions

Attributes & Experience
  • 2+ years of Quickbooks Online experience
  • 5+ years of accounting or 10+ years of advanced bookkeeping experience; public accounting (not limited to tax) or multi-client environment experience preferred; experience reporting directly to an accountant required
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to contribute and collaborate as a team player
  • Self-driven and able to self-manage; ability to stay on task and prioritize deadlines
  • A “fix-it” mindset — resourceful, proactive, and detail-obsessed; there's no task too small!
  • Willing to give and receive feedback; open to new ideas
  • Clear, concise, and tactful written and verbal communication skills
  • Honest, demonstrates high level of integrity and commitment to follow-through
  • Passionate about operational efficiency, process improvement, and automation
  • Extensive experience with complex books or cleanups using a methodical approach
  • Experience supervising or mentoring bookkeepers a plus
  • QuickBooks Online certification preferred
  • Tech-savvy; Excel/Google Sheets experience required
  • Familiarity with tools like Keeper App, ClickUp, Gusto, Slack, ChatGPT, and time tracking software a plus
  • English language fluency

  • Quiet/dedicated (separate) workspace free from interruptions or distractions
  • High-speed internet, willingness to confirm upload/download speed
  • Dual monitors that meet industry standards (please note our tech reimbursement benefits can contribute to this)
  • Quality webcam and audio for clear, remote communication and willingness to screenshare during meetings
  • You must be able to work at a computer for approximately 8 hours a day (flexible hours)

Salary: $80,000-$95,000 dependent on experience
Job-Type: Full-Time, W2 - Eligible to work in the US
Location: Remote; Some US Eastern Time Zone Hours Required
