You will report directly to our CEO, and you will also carry your own portfolio of accounts so you stay close to the work your team does every day. As the Bookkeeping Manager for BBA, your days will be split between multiple needs. A fair estimate of your week looks like: Owning a wide variety of client accounts from simple to complex - About 60% of the role Driving team performance through accountability, support, and training - About 30%+ of the role Documenting and continually refining repeatable processes - About 5%+ of the role

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Serve as a go-to resource and mentor for bookkeepers who need help troubleshooting, understanding complex accounting principles, or improving workflow efficiency Manage, coach, and develop direct report bookkeeping team including monitoring and reporting of KPIs and facilitating accountability and successful results of bookkeepers to continually improve task progress and performance Track and analyze team workload and capacity, make recommendations to leadership team on bookkeeper assignments and utilization Make recommendations to the CEO and leadership team on account transitions and coverage, hiring and onboarding/training new bookkeepers, and internal system improvements Contribute and serve as a reliable example to a culture of warmth, accountability, and continuous learning Perform detailed QA reviews of monthly financial reports across a rotating portfolio of clients to ensure team performance meets or exceeds company standards and individual KPIs Identify inconsistencies, errors, or process gaps, and document actionable feedback for CEO approval in relevant platforms as we continually refine processes Identify and present topics to the leadership team on company wide training needs; plan and facilitate approved training and mentoring sessions Demonstrate and maintain strong understanding of accrual-based accounting, GAAP principles, and train others (internal and external) ensuring development of financial acumen Serve as first point of escalation for Bookkeepers requiring triage for issues Supervise month-end close process and timeliness with each Bookkeeper with a focus on accuracy and best practices, and provide technical accounting insight on edge-case scenarios Perform and oversee advanced bookkeeping: journal entries, job costing, payroll reconciliation, month-end close, deferred revenue, sales tax, profit and loss statements, balance sheet reviews, cleanup work, and ongoing client support in collaboration with Bookkeeping team Interpret financial data to identify inconsistencies, clean-up needs, and optimization of business, expense management, and profitability opportunities for clients Cultivate and manage direct customer/client relationships with new and existing clients Serve as back up to new client onboarding, cleanups, system setups, and ongoing service delivery Document, maintain, and build upon standard operating procedures (SOPs) for core bookkeeping functions for approval by CEO Document and maintain team member progress in their H/R files Manage hiring and termination process with approval of CEO
Requirements for Success 4+ years of Quickbooks Online experience 5+ years accounting, bookkeeping mastery, and GAAP knowledge including accrual. Multi-client experience required 5+yrs Management Experience With Bookkeeping/Accounting Team of 8 or larger Experience working with and delivering reports to accountants and financial professionals Excellence in implementing and facilitating new tech solutions and online systems Passionate about operational efficiency, process improvement, and automation High attention to detail/organization Extensive experience with complex books or cleanups using a methodical approach A "fix-it" mindset, resourceful, proactive, and detail-obsessed; there's no task too small! Clear, concise, and tactful written and verbal communication skills in English Excellence at documentation You adopt the tools we roll out, use them fully, and stay current with where we're heading, including AI. Preferred, though not Required: QuickBooks Online certification preferred Familiarity with tools like Double, ClickUp, Gusto, Slack, Claude, and time tracking software a plus Remote/Home Office Requirements Quiet/dedicated (separate) workspace free from interruptions or distractions High-speed internet, required to meet or exceed company upload/download speed Dual monitors that meet industry standards (please note our tech reimbursement benefits can contribute to this) Quality webcam and audio for clear, remote communication and commitments to screen share during all meetings You must be able to work at a computer for approximately 8 hours in a day
